PROCEDURE WHEN APPLYING FOR AN EQUIVALENCY EXEMPTION AGAINST THE NQF LEVEL 4 AND/OR 5 REAL ESTATE QUALIFICATIONS EFFECTIVE FROM 1 JULY 2019
Practice Note ETD03/2013 issued in May 2013 deals with the assessment of equivalency exemptions by the Estate Agency Affairs Board (EAAB).
This serves to communicate the fee payable effective 1 July 2019 to the EAAB for the consideration of each individual equivalency exemption application, which is R1 837.00.
If the applicant is a registered estate agent holding a valid Fidelity Fund Certificate with an allocated 7 digit reference number, such amount must be paid into the following bank account, namely:
Account name: Estate Agency Affairs Board
Bank name: ABSA
Account Number: 4052033310
Branch code: 632005
Payment reference: Applicant’s (estate agent) allocated 7 digit reference number.
Should the applicant be unsure of this 7 Digit Reference Number they should contact the EAAB’s Call Centre prior to making the payment on Tel: 087 285 3222.
However, if the applicant is not a registered estate agent such amount must be paid into the following bank account, namely:
Account name: Estate Agency Affairs Board
Bank name: ABSA
Account Number: 4052033310
Branch code: 632005
Payment reference: Applicant’s ID number
Upon receipt of the requirements more fully referred to in Practice Note ETD03/2013 as indicated, (including proof of the payment of the assessment fee), the equivalency exemption application will immediately receive further consideration by the EAAB
Please Note: Applications that do not meet the requirement, there will be no refunds. This is because the EAAB will have appointed an Assessor to assess such applications at a fee. Therefore it is important to ensure that applications that meet requirements are submitted. A self-assessment against policy requirements is therefore crucial prior to submission in order to avoid forfeiture of paid fees.
It is envisaged that feedback on applications will be communicated to applicants within 14 days of the application.
