PROCEDURE WHEN APPLYING FOR EXEMPTION AGAINST THE NQF LEVEL 4 AND/OR NQF LEVEL 5 REAL ESTATE QUALIFICATIONS AND PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATION EXAMINATION (PDE) FOR PRINCIPALS AND FOR NON-PRINCIPALS – 1 JULY 2019 – BASED ON AGE OF 60 YEARS AND ABOVE
The Press release dated June 30, 2011: The Estate Agency Affairs Board (EAAB) grants estate agents qualification and Professional Designation Examination (PDE) exemption for Over 60’s deals with the resolution and policy approved by the EAAB Board for the grant of exemption and process that must be followed by interested and qualifying estate agents who are aged 60 years and above.
The fee payable to the EAAB for the consideration and assessment of each individual application (portfolio of evidence) and for consideration for the interview process is R2 343.00 effective from 01 July 2019.
Should the applicant be a registered estate agent that has been issued a Fidelity Fund Certificate, and meets the policy criteria, they will upon submission of a compliant portfolio of evidence as per the policy requirements, need to pay the above-mentioned fee into the following bank account, namely:
Account Name: Estate Agency Affairs Board
Bank Name: ABSA
Account Number: 4052033310
Branch Code: 632005
Payment reference: Estate agent (Applicant) 7 digit reference number.
Should the applicant (estate agent) be unsure of their 7 digit reference number they should contact Tel: 087 285 3222 (the EAAB’s Call Centre) for confirmation of the correct number prior to making payment.
Upon receipt of the portfolio of evidence, which is regarded as an application for the exemption, the relevant Education and Training official will assess the portfolio for compliance, and ensure the paid fee is processed prior to inviting the applicant for an interview. Once the applicant has been invited for the interview, it is incumbent upon the applicant to confirm and attend the scheduled interview as per the invitation.
It should be noted that in view of the set deadline for qualifications compliance and to avoid any disqualification, the EAAB will conduct the interviews as per the set schedule/invitation and no rescheduling/postponements will be allowed.
Estate agents who have submitted a request for an exemption as well as the Portfolio of Evidence and are residing closer to, or are able to access the EAAB Office in Johannesburg are also welcome to request an interview based on their availability by sending an On-Line Query through the MyEAAB portal and title the request “A Request for an Age-Based Exemption Interview”, specifying your availability. The EAAB will confirm its availability accordingly and advise of the payment process and deadline (where payment is not yet made).
Once an interview date has been confirmed, no postponement will be allowed. Postponements which are due to unforeseen circumstances must be communicated to the EAAB with supporting documents in order for the EAAB to approve the postponement and set up another date.
